Made in porcelain and bone china, these vessels are created in plaster formers. Traditional casting is used to form the base and splashing, painting and pouring techniques are used with coloured slips to form the patterns on the walls.
The vase in the centre was made using the above process, then removed from the mould whilst the walls were still flexible, allowing it to be altered, creating additional curves and shadows .
I now aim to create larger forms to increase the ‘canvas’ size on which to use colour expressively. I am beginning to master the balance between the formation of a strong enough structure for the vessel, balanced with the beautiful gaps within the walls and translucency that allows the light to infiltrate.
